In recent interactions with several vendors and partners, it occurred to us just how much we take communication for granted. One example is time zones. We, as humans, are wired to think about what is relative to us. However, in the US alone, there are four different time zones. Another example is the use of technology. Some people are more technologically savvy than others. Some individuals still would like as little to do with computers as possible. Others are on the cutting edge of technology. When scheduling meetings, do not take for granted that just because you know how to use meeting notices, it does not mean that everyone does.
As a result, we have to continuously train ourselves to put ourselves in the shoes of the entity we are communicating with.
